Okay, the charger is getting power and the RED light is solid. If you don’t, you may have a defective charger that either needs repair or, likely, replacement. If you’re satisfied the outlet and cord are all good and the charger has good voltage as indicated with a multimeter, you should have a solid RED light. While you’re at it, clean the contacts on the charger end the same way you would the prongs on your cord. You can also use a multimeter at the charger when it’s plugged in. You can do this by plugging something else into the outlet and seeing if it get’s electricity or use a multimeter. Make sure the outlet’s getting sufficient power. If there’s some rust, hit the spots with a little sandpaper. If there’s dirt or grime, clean them with a cloth and some rubbing alcohol. Make sure they’re clean and free of rust. If the cord looks good, check the prongs on the plug. Using a charger with a bad cord, even if your LEDs are working, could lead to more damage to the charger and any batteries on it. If you find damage, don’t use the charger. With the cord, look for any cuts or abrasions that may impact the functionality of the charger. This can not only affect how your LEDs work and when they illuminate, it can also affect if your battery’s ability to recharge. Well, if you’ve got a cord problem, you’ve got a power receiving problem. So, you need to check the electrical cord first. See, you thought you were only going to be concerned about a flashing GREEN light. However, they should all have RED and GREEN ones. Keep in mind that not all Ryobi chargers include an ORANGE LED.
